Firewall is a security system designed to prevent unauthorized access into or out of a computer network. Make sure firewall is running in your computer to ensure its safety.

  • Keep your software’s up to date

All computers operating systems(OS) receive frequent updates that enhance individual features. These updates also include security measures that keep our computers safe from the latest batch of viruses and malware cooked up by hackers. Ensure that your computer updates frequently and give it time when the update process is happening, do not disrupt it by switching off the computer when the update process is going on.

Use a strong password that is complex and does not contain personal information. Do not use a password that is easy to guess.

  • Watch the downloads

If a download starts without your authorization, immediately you notice it, cancel it and close the web page you were using because it may be filled with more malicious codes. If we use an outdated browser such as Internet Explorer, we need to ensure that the security setting is on at least medium, if not more, to prevent any unwanted code from accessing our system. Otherwise, there’s a chance that downloads may occur in the background without alerting us.

  • Back up your Computer

Sometimes we’re unable to delete a virus or malware off our computers, and when this happens, we’ll need to remove some of our data. Occasionally, file corruption from harmful code may mean we have to reformat our hard drives. Without a backup, there’s no way to recover any lost data. This is even more critical since hard drives may accidentally corrupt themselves and cost us our files. There are three basic options for storing your backup: external hard drives, online storage, and cloud storage. Use either option for back up to ensure that your files are safe in case of loss of files that could also be caused by accidental delete.


A computer is one of the most important things in our lives today since it is either our office or contains our most important information. Protecting it should be our priority. Be careful while browsing the internet, ensure frequent update of your computer and back up your files in a secure place and you are good to go.
